NEOZ’s story began in 1983, not in a corporate boardroom, but in a farm shed nestled within the Bellingen Valley. Driven by a shared passion for artistry and design, Anne Gothe and Peter Ellis embarked on a mission to create more than just beautiful lighting – they envisioned lighting a brighter path for others.
In 1995, NEOZ founder and industrial designer Peter Ellis, was approached to work on the lighting design for Penfold Wine’s Magill Estate restaurant in the Adelaide hills with Sydney architects Allen Jack+Cottier.
He was tasked with designing an electric lamp with no cord to allow tables to be moved around the room. As there were no off-the-shelf battery systems, he designed his own precisely to his requirements. The result was the Magill cordless table lamp, and the first cordless lamp was born. Since then they have been designing, developing and manufacturing award-winning lights for restaurants, hotels and homes across the globe.
